A Ticket To Ride

My boys are home from school for Christmas break, and I need to come up with some activities to keep us all from getting cabin fever. While the two are enjoying “crash pad” now, I know it will get old soon, so I came up with this variation.
Instead of Ethan and James taking turns running headlong into the bean bags on the couch, they take turns sitting in a laundry basket and pushing each other into the bean bags. The “heavy work” of pushing James gives Ethan the proprioceptive feedback his muscles and joints need.
Hopefully these two activities will help keep our house from turning into a wrestling arena during holiday downtime.

We're doing: kid-made ornaments using beads and pipecleaners, sledding, snowman-making, cookie baking...and hopefully the Christmas toys will keep 'em entertained until back to school LOL

Shoveling is GREAT for propriceptive work. A loves it, I love that it helps him. Piling pillows and couch cushions on each other and gently squishing. Sew a jersey sheet into a smallish tube and he can get in it and stretch and push against it. Make forts and tunnels with blankets and couch cushions. And then, finally, give in and take them to B&C Bouncetown in Longmont: check their website for holiday hours, but they have all-day free play and it's a LOT cheaper than Pump it UP.
