Caught

Hot and cold collide.
White clouds unleash their fury
And we are shaken.

Here I go again, blathering on about Denver’s weather. But this is why I'm obsessed: Denver’s average seasonal snowfall is 61.7 inches (1971-2000 period). Yet, until yesterday's big dump of a more than a foot of snow, the city only had received 19.1 inches of the stuff this season. So to see the sky open up and pour down much-needed moisture gave me hope that my lawn isn't going to look like a bale of hay this summer.

Your weather is sounding a lot like ours. We're expecting 10 inches of snow tonight.

This photo really had me studying it hard to get all the incredible details.

I never see squirrels in the city where I live in Japan. And my students confirm my observation.

Take care with all the snow Denver is getting.

I can't fathom snow right now!

I think we got all of the snow that you were supposed to get in Denver this year! Ugh! Connecticut had a horrible winter!

Last year I was flying out to California on May 1st and had a stopover in Denver and we were delayed due to snow and icing! Mother Nature is a fickle female, is she not??

Brrrrrr! That's what it will look like here tomorrow - we've got a severe Winter storm coming in.

Hi, Cathy. I share your concerns about lack of moisture. We have a deficit here in SW Florida. Our rainy season won't really get a move on till mid-May or so, and then comes the season of TOO MUCH rain, aka hurricane season!

Hope your weekend is swell

They closed our Denver office - I thought of all my bloggy friends out there.

I do not envy you - the snow. Hoping we're finished up here in NH. It was beautiful today - sunny and 60. I'm starting to melt out of my winter funk.

That seems to be what's going on here, thus the reason for my colds...

Wish you a great weekend!

Great picture w/ the squirrel in the snow covered tree. We get a lot too in NH, but I think it's hopefully over.

Glad to hear the snow is making you happy. We've got so many water restrictions coming down the pipe... my favorite nursery couldn't take it & closed down...

I'm still laughing about your scrapbooking retreat - brilliant!

I love that haiku with the squirrel photo -- makes it seem like he's in collision mode too!

Nifty capture of this little critter in the branches against your very COLD looking sky!!! Love your haiku too and hope your weather warms up soon.
Hugs and blessings,

Hi Cathy, that is a neat catch you have there. Of course the caught squirell doesn't think it is so good.
Sorry about your weather, we got yours here last night and we only got to a windy high of 65F today. And a lot of rain last night.
Sorry I didn't get here sooner, thank you for your visit and nice comment (old cars).

Jeepers! We've got more snow on the way, but I don't think it will be quite that much- at least I hope not! I'm ready to be done with the stuff for another season...

60 inches of snow on average? Wow.

I have mixed feelings about our late snowfall today for the same reasons. Well, some. We've had record snowfall this season, but I know this last batch will melt into my garden plot within a few days and it'll be moist for a while. And in the meantime, it's lovely outside.
