Snow!

White crystals pile up
To coat the branch in cold fur.
A silent numbing.

But only cold white
Will bring again verdant green.
A cursed sky gift.

We finally got some snow in Denver. As strange as it seems, I’m hoping for more!

I guess when it doesn't snow very much, it seems like a novelty. When I was up in NY for Christmas, it snowed nearly every day! I could not wait to get back home to Florida. I think I actually kissed the ground when I got back here LOL

Happy Friday!

I am very happy to let you have all of the snow. I personally am ready for spring.

Cathy, I like your haiku. I do one every now and then when I write my Sunday 'poem' for the One Single Impression group.
I have fun writing them, I am not a real poet. I like the tanka too because I am long winded.
Your snow is pretty, you can keep it. We had ours three years ago.
Happy Sky Looking, thank you for peeking in and for your nice comment. We were under a fire watch at the time. These rains we got from you might put an end to that.

I love the snow, particularly because it doesn't usually snow here in Dundee (scotland), usually only rains! :)

The snow looks so pretty on the trees. Wouldn't it be nice if it could stay there and stay off the roads?

Cool picture. My poor girls are desperate to see snow. I think next winter I may just start driving north to Dallas if I hear that they're having snow up there.

So beautiful! I'm happy that you are happy because when I saw a few flakes here yesterday after it had been in the 80s for a few days, I was not as happy. Ours didn't stick, so I'm back to good. Enjoy! ;)

I'm glad you're glad! After a winter with 94 inches of snow, I'm kinda thinking 'green'. Good post and lovely photo!

Thanks for stopping by, beautiful photos.

We never get much snow, apart from a few months ago when there were freakish snowfalls and the entire country ground to a halt!

That's a beautiful photo and haiku, even if I am utterly sick out of my mind of snow and cold ;)

I have had about as much snow as I wanted this year, more with snow up to my hip for the better part of Jan.

Enjoy your fluffy white stuff.

We're having a record snowfall this winter in Wisconsin. It's still beautiful. Well, it's easy for me to say: I don't do much of the shoveling!

"cold fur" - I love that!

I never thought Denver would have a lack of snow! Shows my geographical ignorance!

The haiku goes beautifully with the photo. I love the "up" angle. I can hear the stillness in the falling snow. Nicely done.

I will take no more snow until next November for me! I am still waiting for all of the snow in our yard to melt.

What's with everyone in Denver wanting snow? Do you all feel cheated or something?!! I want summer. :)

I shouldn't have checked in here. We're supposed to get snow tomorrow... I guess now I can it's your fault. I'm sure your post had something to do with it! ;)

Sorry to be visiting so late, but I've been ill and haven't done much of anything for a week or so. I'm doing what I can to catch up today. What a lovely snowy seen and perfect accompaniment Haiku!
Hugs and blessings,

We don't get much snow where I live. This is a beautiful shot. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
