Here is green option for all you wine enthusiasts: you no longer have to throw your natural or synthetic corks in the trash. Instead, mail them to Trenton, NJ-based TerraCycle Inc., which turns them into new products. I learned about this company via the blog, 365 Days of Trash.
The company tells you how many stamps are needed to mail corks: for up to 10 corks use two stamps; up to 30 corks use four stamps. Address your mailing bag or envelope to: TerraCycle Cork Brigade, 121 New York Ave., Trenton, NJ 08638.

Terra Cycle is awesome, I love that website. I have always saved my corks thinking that Cody and I would make a cork board sometime, but they're just sitting in a tin somewhere.

I wonder what they turn the corks into? My cousin collects corks and gives them to her friend, who makes cork boards and cork tables. Like Wayfaring Wanderer, I have started cork collections with the intention of making them into something, but I've never gotten around to it.

That's great to know, and I've heard about Terra Cycle somewhere, at least the name rang a bell when I read this. Don't you wish every town had someplace that recycled all kinds of things?
You always find the most innovative ways to recycle! I've also seen really cute little cork boards made from a variety of saved corks. I suppose it would be a neat way to remember yummy wines and to decorate your home. We're too sleepy to drink much wine these days, but I love your tip! I hate throwing away yogurt cups. Definitely seems like something that should be recycled.
