Haphazard Gardening

We have the best of intentions when we plant our garden. We want to plant, prune, weed and water the garden plot so the flowers and herbs can thrive. Then we realize how much time that would take, and the plants are on their own. Last year, we grew a monstrous nasturtium in this sliver of a garden plot, along with some basil. This year, we plopped down some petunias along with some chamomile and lemon balm, which are great for making floral waters. Then we forgot about them for a good part of the summer while we tended to our vegetables. But that’s ok—thanks to all the rain we got over the past few months, these plants have flourished and have turned into a cheerful—if messy—flower garden.

I think its colorful and I like the concept. Manicured nice gardens are nice to look like, but the "wild" life of a garden that takes over when the best laid plans go awry also look fantastic too! its good you guys got a lot of rain too to save from having to water a lot of the garden :)

'Messy' is pretty and as Nature intended. Gardens that are too tidy aren't welcoming to wild life so carry on as you are ;-)

I love cheerful, messy gardens. Unfrotunately, everything here is brown and crispy due to more than 50 days of 100+ degree heat.

The rain has helped me out too, the pot of flowers out front usually dies a sorrowful death after a forget about it but this year it is still going strong. Hope the veggies are going well

Looks great to me! At least when you forget about outdoor plants they get rained on and survive... my poor basil in a pot got stuck in a corner and I kinda forgot to water it. Got one good sauce out of it though!

I love flower beds that are overflowing with flowers, and even better--when they have herbs and vegetables in them too.

So pretty! Gardening is fun when the plants are in just the right spot to thrive and Mother Nature is kind enough to take care of them.
