It's Raining Gold

After last week’s rain, the skies cleared over the weekend. We headed up to Golden Gate Canyon State Park to see Colorado’s version of fall color—the yellow-leaf aspen. We weren’t disappointed. Aspen leaves sparkled against the bright blue sky. And when the breeze the shook the trees, it showered the ground with golden coins.
This is why aspens are my favorite tree.

One of the real advantages of living in Northern Illinois is the proximity to Wisconsin (sometimes) and Michigan. Both of those states 'turn' just a little sooner than we do here in Illinois, so this time of year will often mean day trips up into those other two states looking for 'color'. And it's never hard to find.

It must look beautiful when the ground is covered with golden 'coins'.

When I think of Colarado I always think of the aspens.

Lovely colour! I'm glad you got to see it at its height!
