Fall began with a vengeance this week, with chilly rains. A couple of days ago, the clouds were so heavy with moisture, they blotted out the mountains. Hopefully this weekend Colorado will be back to its usual Indian Summer days.

Texture and depth are seen in this gray sky. What is nice is that there are many shades of gray. A nice view of a rugged land and sky - and both beautiful!
Here comes the rain. I guess that is the season we are in. Awesome capture, and stay warm!
Cathy, that is the perfect title for that beautiful shot. Clouds can be so incredibly beautiful.
We had a brief two-day period of heat and humidity and now it's gone chilly again. The only nice thing is, the sky has cleared!
What a perfect title for this post as the clouds do, indeed, look as if they have been smudged! Great shot!
the sky looks likke a smoke going upward! nice group of thick clouds but i know it brings in rain later.
Happy weekend, Cathy!
That's a dramatic photo, Cathy. Hope t.he weekend is better for you! We're enjoying something of an Indian summer - beautiful crisp mornings and warm sunny days
We started fall with a gentle rain, nothing as dramatic as what you experienced. We needed the rain so we're pretty happy about it. ;-)
A beautiful, dramatic sky!
that is a beautiful picture of the clouds! I do hope you get a little more summer like weather before fall and winter descends upon you
have a great weekend
betty
I know all about the clouds that blot out the sun, hope you get relief soon. The clouds do make quite a lovely pattern though.
Calico Contemplations
Your photo made me shiver and I can feel the damp in the air. I miss the sun.

I'm hoping for a few more summer days too.
Great photo!
The sky does look smudged. Like an artist used charcoal or something then came along and used a thumb to create texture and depth. Very nice.
I love that smudged look of the sky. Nice shot.
Interesting clouds! Especially since we just came back from seeing Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, haha!
